Content-rich dictionary entries

Each dictionary entry may include a number of different translations, each of which can contain large amounts of various information: part of speech corresponding the translation, references to the synonyms for the given translation, any necessary labels (grammar, usage and other), examples as well as notes.

A specially designed keyboard allows you to include phonetic transcriptions in entries, for you to be able to not only remember translation and spelling, but also to learn the correct pronunciation.

Easy and handy information search

The application has a variety of implemented information search mechanisms for a more effective work with dictionaries: quick search of headwords (by letter index or first letters) and a flexible advanced search by entry content (with one or several conditions simultaneously).

An effective training system

The training system implemented in the application provides various memorizing techniques and ensures that you will retain learnt words for a long time. The system is based on the results of the research on memory processes by a German psychologist Hermann Ebbinghaus.

For a randomly listed word group you are offered to complete a series of tasks with increasing difficulty: choose a translation, recall the translation, choose a word, recall a word, and type the word. To go to the next, a more difficult task, the current task must be completed a certain number of times, depending on the training phase. In case of making errors or using prompts, the task will be repeated.

After basic training, you will be asked to perform the same tasks (in various combinations) for the same words a few more times: in 20 minutes, in 24 hours, in 48 hours (on the 4th day), in 72 hours (on the 7th day) and a week after. Thanks to such reviews, less of the studied material is forgotten and your memory retains the learned words.

Training planning and system of notifications

Using this application, you choose when to begin to study new words, number of words to study at a time, number of new words to learn during a day and what words you wish to learn first. When it is time to repeat tasks, the application will notify you by sound and visual signals. You will also know what time the review is scheduled for and the number of words to review.
